Hiring Friends
It usually isn't a good idea to hire friends unless you're willing to treat them just like your other employees.

Old Boss, New Boss
When there's a new boss, the employees will inevitably make comparisons to the old.

Swear Not To Swear
When dealing with the public, employees must always conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Stand By Your Man
When a manager has zero tolerance policies, he or she must stand by their employees when they follow those policies.

Sneaky Fees
When a business adds sneaky fees after quoting a price, it only puts its customers on their guard.

Zombies and Their Employers
Are some employers unable to tell the difference between a job applicant and a zombie?

Attentiveness and Care
Even for the most simple of jobs, a good manager will encourage attentiveness and care in his or her employees.

Delegation Before Friendship
A good manager doesn't try to be everyone's friend when delegating tasks.

When discussing the problems with the American economy, people like to point their fingers at abstract entities like unemployment, low wages, inflation, outsourcing to foreign countries, or national debt. These causes, while certainly valid, seem too big to the average American to solve. We just shrug and say, "What can we do?"

I believe the problem is more concrete. As long as:

▸ employers have inept hiring practices and treat their employees poorly
▸ as long as businesses have outdated or inefficient systems and procedures
▸ as long as companies only measure their goals by the profit margin, sometimes by sacrificing things like proper training of employees or quality of products and services
▸ and as long as we're willing to let this continue simply because "that's the way we've always done it", the economy will not improve in a significantly progressive manner.

These problems can all be readily solved, and most don't require an infeasible investment of time and money to correct. On Jogobiz, I address such issues in hopes of bringing about more happy and productive workplaces, fairer treatment of employees, and improved customer service.
